MCA lateral entry is basically a 2-year program designed for the students who already completed their bachelor’s in Computer Application or bachelor’s in science(B.sc)- Computer Science/IT to enroll in lateral MCA and seeking opportunities for future career perspectives.
The 2 years lateral MCA program upgrades knowledge and skills and development for the students from BCA, B.sc (Computer Science/IT) thrivingly extend participation in innovative areas computer application in the upcoming future.
Both of these programs open the door for various positions in the field of software development which are system analysis, MIS, networking, IT consultancy, software testing, and application architecture.

MCA Lateral Entry Eligibility & Entrance Exams
Candidates seeing lateral entry admission in MCA must note that the course duration for these candidates will be two years. The eligibility criteria for MCA admission 2020 through lateral entry mode can be checked below:-
- Rule 1– The candidate must have a regular BCA degree with a minimum of 50% marks.
- Rule 2– Candidates who have passed B.Sc in Computer Science and B.Sc in Information Technology (IT) are eligible for direct 2nd-year admission in MCA.
- Rule 3– Candidates who have passed B.Sc IT/ CS must note that he/ she must have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects in Class 12th.
- Rule 4– Candidates who have passed B.Sc IT/ CS in Distance Mode are not eligible for Lateral Entry MCA admissions.
